After last week’s serious topic of Ai art I wanted to do something a bit more fun and entertaining. I thought it would be fun to show you what’s on my desk this week!
I took a quick snapshot and added labels to everything. I feel like I’m creating a museum archive, haha.
My MacBook: I do all of my “adobe” level work here because it’s way faster than my main computer. I use Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premier Pro for all sorts of tasks. At the moment I have my latest studio vlog I’ve edited and is uploading to YouTube as I’m typing this. It should be available by the time this newsletter appears on Substack!
My canvas lamp. I haven’t used this in a while but it’s great for filming birds-eye shots of what you’re working on for social media or YouTube videos. It’s a lamp with a built in attachment to hold your phone.
My vlogging camera. It’s the DJI Pocket Osmo 3. I love it because it’s so small and is great at working with almost any lighting situation. It also stabilizes the video for you automatically and can even track you as you walk around on screen.
My reading journal from a shop called the Quirky Cup Collective. It’s so cute. I have an unboxing video here where I show it off a bit.
My journal. This is a notebook I designed and had manufactured myself! It’s no longer available but I would love to offer notebooks again one day. I only have about twenty pages left in it before I start a new journal.
My little pocket sketchbook which is my current every day sketchbook. I’m a little over halfway through it. There is a whole substack post about the sketchbooks I use here if you didn’t see it. There is also a YouTube video if you prefer that format! You can see it here.
My planner! It’s a hobonichi weeks. I think I have used a hobonichi weeks for 6 years now. My very first one was in 2019! It just works for me. It is a Japanese brand and I order from them every single fall.
My iPad with my homework on it. I am currently taking the “Make Art That Sells” Character Bootcamp course and it has been such a delight! This month we are designing a little anthropomorphized (not sure that’s how you spell that, haha) thimble to interact with the mouse we did last month.
My AirPods Pro. A must when I’m editing videos and just for listening to audiobooks while I sketch.
My commonplace notebook where I keep all my little notes and write down things that stand out to me. Usually quotes I find online or lines from movies. I also write down all my book ideas here.
One of my favorite pens for lettering and drawing. The Tombow Fudenosuke Brush Pen.
I usually have some type of lip product handy. This week it’s been the Milani Color Fetish Hydrating Lip Stain in ‘Pink About It.’ My favorite lip stains, however, are the Rare Beauty Lip Oils.
Blue Light Blocking Prescription Glasses. These ones make me look super nerdy and not in the cute-nerdy way so I only wear them at my desk, haha.
Bath and Body Works Hand Cream - Fairytale scented. This is my favorite bath and body works scent but unfortunately it’s been discontinued so I’ve been using is sparingly!
My trusty Diet Coke. I almost always have either a Diet Coke or Diet Dr. Pepper at my desk.
Random post it notes with random notes. These can be found on my desk, in my sketchbooks, on my computer, on my wall or even stuck in a drawer. This particular note has the names of two literary agents I am looking into querying.
My computer. It has been my trusted companion for many years and I have no plans to replace it anytime soon. I use it mostly for any internet related tasks and to keep up with all my favorite YouTube videos while I’m working.
My desk itself. It’s a standing desk I bought about 5 years ago from a company called ‘Flexispot.’ I really love the extra big work service that holds all of my stuff because I usually have all of my tech and a lot of my art supplies out at one time. It holds it all! In the mornings I will raise it to standing and walk about two miles on my walking pad while I work on any internet or computer related tasks that need doing.
And that’s it for what’s on my desk this week!
I would love to know what’s something that’s on your desk this week because I’m nosy like that. :)
As always, thank you so much for reading!
Have a great day!
🤍 Amber
